Agua Joia

The opportunity presented this young couple was to build their own home as part of a loose family compound in Jamestown, RI. While complementing with the other family structures, the house had to express their own personalities and needs, therefore, tight imitations of the parents’ house (also designed by BTGA) were not the best option.

Water views of the Bay and Newport were the focus of the main spaces of the house. An angled plan animated the spaces and brought the views into every corner. The angles also allowed the outdoor living spaces to nestle into the house and pull everyone outside in good weather.
