BTGA partnered with Svigals+Partners and Studio JAED for a RIDE Stage 2 to program and design several renovations and new school buildings for the city of providence as part of the Turnaround Plan for the City’s Education System. The team looked at 6 school buildings and a total of $155 million in construction.

BTGA led the design of a new Middle School and a new Elementary Schools (PreK through 5th) on Peace Street and Plenty Street. This project represents a generational opportunity for the City of Providence, one that allows for new structures that truly address the needs of 21st century learners.

The Peace Street schools will be dual language program schools, requiring not only mirrored classrooms where parallel language classes can be taught, but parity that will inform the design choices for all the spaces. The new gym and cafeteria spaces are critical pieces that will be designed accommodate community functions to help foster neighborhood connections and bring students of all schools into these spaces.
