The Chemistry department at the CCRI Warwick campus updated their lab and adjacent office spaces. The design includes new teaching walls, lab equipment, and an updated HVAC system to maintain air quality and reduce heat loads from the lab equipment. The usergroup wanted to eliminate the open labs to the adjacent hallway due to noise and distraction issues during class time while still keeping an open, interactive feel. BTGA designed full height storefront walls that let light into the hallway but noise out. Resilient cabinets and counter tops will keep the space looking new for years to come. The project was done in multiple phases on third shift to minimize the impact on class schedules in conjunction with demanding noise and other limitations on campus. It was combined with classroom space renovations and the biology labs. Construction processes were designed to keep the egress hall open to occupants at all times.
