Crowning Point
Sitting prominently at the confluence of three rivers, this home is in an idyllic and active neighborhood where pedestrians, boats, and birds all pass by. From this spot, the skyline displays all the town has to offer in the way of recreation—boating at the yacht club, nights out at downtown restaurants and shops, and enjoying the beauty of nature with a view of an untouched island. While this corner lot had a great deal to offer, the existing home left much to be desired. Built in 1929, the colonial was non-conforming to current regulations. It was clearly not designed for this specific site, as it did not take advantage of the 180-degree view opportunity the lot provides. Our design takes advantage of the opportunities of the site—amplifying the views from every corner of the home, creating discrete outdoor living spaces with varying degrees of privacy, and using a vocabulary that melds with the surrounding neighborhood—resulting in a beautiful home that meets the client’s needs and is welcomed by the community. With the new floor plan, every bedroom and living space has a water view, and to top it off, there’s a massive roof deck with a panoramic view of the river to enjoy all that this spot has to offer.
