Gioiello del Mare
This jewel of a house was tucked onto a small lot in the flood zone, utilizing much of the buildable area of the lot. To offset the impression of height created by raising the living areas about the flood plain, the facades are broken into three horizontal bands and the roof has large overhangs. The angles of the house help orient the internal spaces to the important views on the lot. These views are framed by the curved invisible edge pool at the edge of the deck.
Inside, the double height Great Room has smaller spaces arrayed around it. These spaces are open to each other, but are separated by columns or beams so that they each have their own identity. A balcony runs around the Great Room on the second floor, providing access to the bedrooms and Master Suite.
