Peck Senior Center
The Peck Center project was comprised of roof replacement, exterior masonry repairs, and interior renovation of the “TAP-IN” storage food pantry, commons areas, and the Adult Enrichment Center (AEC).
As part of the project, the existing roof was to be replaced with a character defining slate roof, copper gutters, and snow guards in keeping with the historic nature of the building. Evaluation of and conformance with State Historic recommendations for the roof replacement and exterior repairs were key to the project’s success.
The interior renovations were based on detailed programming, beginning with assessment of end-user requirements. They included reconfigurations of various spaces, new floor and ceiling finishes, new light fixtures, and HVAC upgrades. Specifically, the “TAP-IN” food pantry - an important community amenity – had renovations that centered on addressing ADA accessibility issues with its current layout. Meanwhile, the AEC, which provides a variety of spaces for educational, social, entertainment, counseling purposes for the Town’s senior population, consisted of a reconfiguration of the existing main hall, offices, and rear meeting room.
