The Counseling Services was originally located in a re-purposed, uninviting classroom space. Supporting RIC’s goal to centralize all of their Health Services, the center was relocated to Browne Hall to create better synergy between similar departments. Today, students are met with a welcoming, spa-like environment with in-direct, dimmable lighting, private offices, and a group therapy room. BTGA focused on providing soft materials that encouraged a calm, safe environment. Privacy was a main issue in the design of this new space. BTGA paid careful attention to acoustics and office layouts to protect client’s privacy. The design reflected a typical therapy office, to provide students with real-world experience and professionalism.
