As Roger Williams University (RWU) transitions to a new interdisciplinary model, BTGA has been working to create spaces that respond to this goal. The Data & Modeling Studio is the first of these new interdisciplinary, flexible learning spaces. It was created within the existing footprint of the School of Engineering, Computing, and Construction Management. This experiential and flexible learning space is for students from multiple disciplines, including Computer and Data Science, Engineering, and Business. Our design transformed underutilized classrooms and a drab corridor, creating a collaborative classroom with spaces for breakout sessions, independent learning, and dedicated virtual reality rooms. The design, along with the careful selection of furniture, allows for three different configurations to fit the many varying needs of each program.
