Wexford Science & Technology
Our team completed an interior fit-out for Brown University as a tenant of Wexford Science and Technology on the 6th floor of the Point 225 building in Providence’s Innovation & Design District. The project included offices and lab spaces and the associated infrastructure upgrades that would allow those spaces to function for their new purposes. Brown University, a leader in the State’s expansive higher education community, carved out over half of the 225 Building’s 62,000 square foot real estate to create numerous program spaces including needed wet lab, research, and office spaces for their expanding Biomed department. BTGA coordinated between the construction manager (Shawmut), the tenants (Brown University), the laboratory designer and base building architect (Ayers Saint Gross), and the developers (Wexford Science and Technology) from Design through Construction. Our team worked to create an interior space that not only met the University’s needs but to create a design that was cohesive with the overall building design concept. The interior spaces capitalize on the beautiful views of the Providence River and the surrounding city while creating a bright durable space for its tenants. The communal and lab spaces support flexible research, providing movable furniture and equipment. Exposed corridor ceilings give a glimpse into the highly sophisticated building infrastructure needed to support these lab spaces, while still giving the look and feel of a modern laboratory facility.
